Google Sheets
Used for rapid data cleaning, pivot tables, lookup formulas, and business calculations in our foundational sessions.
- 1 Sign in with any personal Google / Gmail account.
- 2 No software installation required — works 100% free in your browser.
- 3 Ensure access to Google Drive to download session practice CSV files.
Google BigQuery
Google Cloud's enterprise data warehouse. We use the 100% Free Sandbox tier (no credit card required) for SQL querying.
- 1 Go to Google Cloud Console and navigate to BigQuery.

Create a new GCP Project (e.g.,
kologs-data-analytics). - 3 Enable BigQuery Sandbox (gives 10 GB free storage & 1 TB free query analysis per month).
Looker Studio
Google's free web-based BI tool for building interactive live dashboards connected directly to Sheets or BigQuery.
- 1 Open Looker Studio with your Google account.
- 2 Complete the one-time welcome setup & accept terms.
- 3 Practice creating a blank report and linking a sample Google Sheet dataset.
Power BI Desktop
Microsoft's flagship business intelligence application for end-to-end data modeling, DAX, and report creation.
- 1 Power BI Desktop is 100% FREE for Windows users.
- 2 Download directly from Microsoft Store or official site.
- 3 Mac Users: Can follow along during live sessions or run Windows via Parallels / virtual desktop.
